Lean Quote Calculator beta · coming soon
Know the work.
Understand the cost.
Turn a laser drawing into a cost estimate you can explain. Review the cut and engraving work, choose your material and machine, and see how your rates shape the price.
The calculator is being prepared for public access. Screenshots show the working beta with editable example rates. Demo access is not open yet.
See what the drawing asks the laser to do
A picture of the work.
Numbers you can check.
Useful for laser makers and small shops exploring the cost of a part, a sign, or a layered map.

Start with a drawing.
Upload a supported DXF or SVG, or a MapToLaser Express project ZIP. See path lengths, engraving area, starting points, and the drawing’s overall dimensions.
Check the operations.
Inspect the color-coded preview. Assign cutting, line engraving, raster engraving, scoring, or ignore to each layer. Unclear operations need a decision before pricing.
Explore the cost.
Choose stock, machine and quantity. Adjust the example rates, calculate an estimate, and inspect the material, machine time, setup and minimum-charge breakdown.
Make the assumptions visible
Your costs belong
in the calculation.
Change material cost, waste allowance, machine hourly cost, process speed, start overhead, setup and minimum charges. Remember a rate profile in your browser for that material and machine, or return to the examples.
Switch between millimeters and inches without resizing the drawing or changing the price. Changing a costing input clears the old estimate so you can calculate again.
- Cutting and scoringEstimated from path length and starting points.
- Line engravingMeasured and priced as paths, separately from filled engraving.
- Raster engravingEstimated from supported filled areas and an editable coverage rate.
- Material usageBased on the drawing’s bounding rectangle plus a waste allowance.

One map. Several physical pieces.
Keep the whole
project in view.
MTLE ZIP import reads the project’s layer instructions and selects one manufacturing drawing for each physical piece. Review each piece, choose its stock and quantity, then bring the estimates together.
Missing layer instructions and differences between SVG and DXF require review. Setup and minimum charges apply separately to each piece. Assembly and finishing are not included.
Take the reasoning with you
What this beta is for
A useful estimate
starts with honest limits.
The first public release is a drawing calculator with editable example rates. It is designed to help you understand a job and test costing assumptions.
Lean Quote does not generate laser toolpaths. Review the drawing and calibrate your costing inputs before quoting a real job. Actual run time depends on travel, acceleration, passes, material and machine setup.
- Included in the calculatorSupported drawing measurement, layer review, costing inputs, piece estimates, unit switching and local exports.
- Outside this demoAutomatic nesting, assembly, finishing, hardware, packaging, tax and shipping. No accounts or shared shop rate storage.
- Still in developmentThe broader customer-request inbox, email extraction and saved shop workflow. They are not part of this calculator demo.
Before you try it
Common questions
Are the prices real shop quotes?
No. The screenshots use illustrative rates in USD. Replace them with costs and process rates measured for your own shop, and review the estimate before quoting a customer.
Will my drawing be saved?
The calculator processes a drawing for the current request and does not save it to a server library. Rate preferences you choose to remember stay in that browser. Estimates are saved only when you download or print them.
What files should I prepare?
Use planar DXF or SVG paths, or an MTLE ZIP with its layer manifest. The upload limit is 5 MB. Convert text and images to paths as appropriate. SVG clipping, masks and filters need to be flattened into visible paths for standalone pricing; unsupported content is flagged or refused.
Can I try the demo today?
Public access is not open yet. These pages preview the working calculator. We will add a demo link here when launch checks are complete.
